Donal Clancy–
guitar, vocals
Rory Makem –
banjo, vocals

It is no surprise that Rory and Dónal are each acclaimed Irish singers and musicians as well as masterful storytellers with a witty and charming stage presence. They learned from the best: their respective fathers Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy, who along with The Clancy Brothers, were the first group to bring Irish folk song to a worldwide audience.
Born in County Louth, Rory continues the lineage of an Irish music dynasty begun by his grandmother Sarah Makem. He is well known to Milwaukee audiences both through performances with his father and more recently as Makem and Spain. Rory has recorded with artists including Schooner Fare and Tom Paxton, performed on movie soundtracks and his compositions can be heard woven into a number of PBS programs.

Dónal grew up in County Waterford where he began his musical career at age 14. He recorded both with his father and cousin Robbie O’Connell as well as with Cherish the Ladies and Eileen Ivers. He was also one of the founding members of the band Danú. In recent years, he has focused his attention on the Clancy tradition and his family’s repertoire of songs. A review of Dónal’s CD Songs of a Roving Blade in Irish Music Magazine said, “the world has another Clancy to carry the torch for folk songs.”

Reasonably priced food will be available for purchase before each

Dáithí Sproule–
guitar, vocals

Three of Celtic music’s most acclaimed and award - winning musicians, Liz, Billy and Dáithí perform as Trian, a band they originally formed in the 1980s. While tied to traditional music, the trio uses exquisite musicianship to take the traditions a step further.

Born in Chicago, Liz’s playful and expressive fiddling, along with her massive original repertoire, have made her a worldwide legend. She was called “one of today’s most celebrated torchbearers of traditional Irish music” by Irish Music Magazine. Liz was a 1994 recipient of this country’s highest honor in folk and traditional arts, the National Heritage Fellowship.

Named a 2016 recipient of the National Heritage Fellowship, Billy is revered as player and composer on both sides of the Atlantic and is credited with raising the profile and stature of the button accordion. The Brooklyn born artist was called the “finest and most influential box player ever to emerge from the US” by music critic Earle Hitcher.

Born in Derry, Ireland and now based in Minnesota, Dáithí was called a “seminal figure in Irish music” by the Rough Guide to Irish Music. A member of the internationally celebrated band Altan, Dáithí is known for his pioneering guitar styles including the use of DADGAD tuning. He is also a fine singer in English and Irish.
